VOLUNTEER POSITION:

 

Coordinator, UNA East Bay Center, United Nations Association, Berkeley

 

The East Bay Chapter of UNA-USA maintains a Center staffed by volunteers to educate the public about the work of the United Nations and its agencies as well as to promote and support the multi-cultural and multiracial mission of the UN throughout the world.

The Center sells cards, country flags, t-shirts, selected gifts, educational books as well as provides a small lending library of materials published by and about the UN. UN-related  curriculum guides, posters and teaching kits for teachers and documentary videos are also available for loan.

 

The Chapter is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to assume the following responsibilities:

 

Coordinate volunteer schedule for open hours of the Center: Tues-Sat. 12-5pm

 

Assist in recruiting and training volunteers and oversee their work projects

 

Oversee the sales operations of the UN merchandise and gifts

 

Work with Center Task Force members and Chapter Board to plan activities and projects

 

Total hours per week: 10-20hr

 

Background: We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic person who believes in the mission and work of the UN and has a genuine interest in promoting and supporting the goals of the organization. Prior experience in public service and management is a plus as are good ideas and initiative. Position could be shared with another person.
